Frequently asked questions

Are dry bags completely waterproof or submersed-proof?

Most roll-top bags offer complete protection against torrential rain, heavy splashing, mud and quick accidential drops in water when properly sealed with air trapped inside, standard roll-top dry bags are not intended for prolonged, deep underwater submersion

What size dry bag should I choose?
  • 5L–10L: Best for personal essentials like phones, wallets, keys, power banks, and small first aid/organizing kits
  • 15L–25L: Ideal for day trips, trail hikes, kayaking or paddleboarding. Holds spare clothing, lunch, and lightweight rain shell.
  • 30L+: Built for multi-day adventures. Holding bulky clothing or serving as a primary backpack

If you’re between sizes, go slightly bigger.

Air compresses. Regret doesn’t.

Are dry bags good for hiking?

Yes. They protect against rain, river crossings, and unexpected weather.

They have several advantages against the normal backpack

  • 100% waterproof (roll-top seal)
  • Lightweight
  • Adjustable (roll top down to fit payload)
  • Easy to clean: Smooth surface;wipes clean instantly
Do dry bags float?

Absolutely! Just be sure that you followed the following steps to ensure your bag is working correctly:

  1. Roll the top of the bag down 3-4 times
  2. Buckle the sides up so that you sort of made a “handle” for your bag
  3. Be sure to leave some air in the bag, as this is what keeps your gear buoyant in water and dry!
How do I seal a roll-top dry bag properly?
  • Load your gear, leaving 25-30% of space at the top
  • Press top edges firmly together and align the stiffening strip
  • Roll the top down at least 3-4 times tightly
  • Fasten the quick-release buckles in the opposite direction to lock the airtight seal
How should I clean and store my dry bag?

Cleaning: Wipe down with a damp cloth or hose down with mild soapy water. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing.

Storage: Ensure the bag is 100% dry inside and out before storing to prevent mildew. Store unrolled in a cool, dry place out of the direct sunshine
